East Barnet School

East Barnet School is a 1350 place specialist technology school. Our designs for East Barnet School combine the existing two site school onto one site.

The building will achieve high standards of energy efficiency and a 'Very Good' environmental BREEAM rating. To reduce the building's carbon footprint, it will be naturally ventilated and have a high level of natural daylight. Over 10% of its energy needs will be met from renewable energy sources through the use of biomass boilers.

The school will offer regular community access to top class facilities.

The headteacher says of East Barnet School: "the children and staff of East Barnet School can look forward to learning in an environment which matches their outstanding quality."

The Chair of Governors says: "I am really pleased to see that such a fantastic design has been produced so quickly."

The school has been designed as a landmark within East Barnet, yet it will respect its surroundings through its proportions and sympathetic use of materials. It will take advantage of panoramic views over London and benefit from being built on a prominent south-facing site.

The school is part of Project Faraday, a national programme to create exemplary approaches to teaching science and to create new opportunities for science to be incorporated into the wider curriculum. The new building will cater for this in a state of the art science laboratories.
